New Wednesday Night Discipleship on August 26
|
|
Wednesday Night Discipleship (at 6:00, following the Evening Prayer service which is at 5:30): Dr. Schurb will teach "An Introduction to the Augsburg Confession and Apology". This 13-week study will begin to familiarize participants with the most foundational 16th century Lutheran confessional writing, the Augsburg Confession, and its masterful defense ("apology") published the following year. Classes are available for all ages, including babysitting for those younger than Kindergarten. Find out more here.

Farmers Market Counters with Downtown Springfield Inc.

Trinity is working to help support Downtown Springfield Inc. by providing volunteers at the Old Capitol Farmers Market. DSI appreciates all of the help we have been able to give so far. We are continuing to help in September and October. Sign up at this link to volunteer. We need 5 slots filled for this Saturday, August 29.

Congregational (Voters) meeting summary
|
|
On August 23, 2026 the congregation approved the restriction of $300,000 of undesignated bequest funds for the purpose of making up the $341,202 deficit budget passed at the July 20, 2026 voters meeting. The goal is to make sustainable changes in the near future to conserve as much of the $300,000 as possible. A more detailed update will be given to the congregation sometime in September. It was also announced at the meeting that more help is need counting and depositing offerings and donations. If you are willing to help with this critical service speak to Treasurer Chuck Moore, President John Boehme, or one of the pastors to be referred to Chuck or John.

Concordia Theological Seminary 50th Anniversary
|
|
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Concordia Theological Seminary's move to Fort Wayne, the Central Illinois District Archival Board is hosting an evening of thanksgiving and remembrance for those who attended, served, or were involved in any way with the seminary while it was here. Join us on September 4 from 5-7pm at Trinity's School Campus (515 S. MacArthur Blvd.). A catered meal will be provided on September 4. Further information will be forthcoming.

Altar Guild Girls Conference at St. Paul, Hamel on October 11
St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel IL, is hosting a free conference for altar guild trainees, veterans, and aspirants on Sunday, October 11. Guest speakers are Rev. David Buchs of Grace Lutheran Church, Little Rock AR, speaking on the biblical roots of altar guild service; and Mrs. Tori Egger of the Concordia Seminary Women's Association, speaking on hospitality in the parish. Conference attendees will also be introduced to the Altar Guild Girls program hosted at St. Paul, Hamel and Trinity, Worden, and given ideas about how to begin a similar group in their own parish or circuit.
The conference welcomes girls in 4th grade-high school, adult altar guild members, and anyone who would like to learn about altar guild. Doors will open at 1, and the conference will conclude around 7. Dinner will be provided to all registered attendees. The Altar Guild Girls conference is funded by the Lilly endowment through the Sing, Pray and Keep His Ways initiative of LCMS Worship.
